Other Ensembles
Brass Choir
The chamber ensemble of brass is made up of trumpets, horns, trombones, euphoniums and tubas. This group is hand picked by directors to expand upon their previous knowledge of brass music and chamber works. Brass choir performs at solo and ensemble contest, the kaliedoscope concert and the chamber ensemble concert and is directed by Mrs. Decker.
Woodwind Choir
Woodwind choir consists of flutes, clarinets, saxophones, oboe and bassoon players. This group is hand picked by directors to expand upon their previous knowledge of woodwind music and chamber works. This chamber group performs at solo and ensemble contest, the kaliedoscope concert and the chamber ensemble concert and is directed by Mrs. Decker.
Jazz Combo
Jazz combo is an after-school ensemble consisting of traditional and non-traditional jazz instruments.This group works on reading lead sheets and chord changes to develop the players improvisational skills in a jazz setting. Currently, this group is open to anyone interested and is directed by Mr. Mahowald.
Percussion Ensembles
Ragtime Xylophones - The RHS Ragtime Xylophone Ensemble is a prestigous group of four RHS percussionists performing the delightful ragtime music of the early 20th century, as popularized by George Hamilton Green. This ensemble performs at several concerts per year and features 1-2 students as xylophone soloists with the rest performing as a marimba quartet.
Percussion Ensembles - These groups are split into two, a learning ensemble and an advancing ensemble. Students will audition to be placed in one of the options and given music. The ensembles will perform at several concerts throughout the year and will begin rehearsals shortly after marching band season concludes.
